Shopping Therapy!!

Today was one of those hell days with the crushing period headache and massive cramps and worrying about Skeetie having to go all the way down to South Jersey today and an INSANE work day....By the time 5 o'clock came I was telling myself "I GOTTA go BUY something!"

So me, my cramps & my headache ventured over to Daffy's (I freaking LOVE that store) and found these WICKED, WICKED leather capris from Italy:

And these super cool Gaia D'Este shoes also from Italy. That is what I love about Daffy's. All the Italian import designer stuff.

The leather on both of my goodies smells SOOOOO fabulous. I am happy and I dare say, my headache has subsided and even the cramps are feeling better. I swear this shopping therapy helps.

This morning I bent down to hit the power button on my computer and bashed my face against the heavy wooden chair so that is how my day started off! lol. I am a walking hazard. I SEE no bruise but when I touch it I can feel one.

While I was out shopping Skeetie called to say he was going over to Mad Anthony's house for awhile so he can have a little bit of a relax. He needs it as it is back over to the Bronx for him tomorrow morning. He never gets a rest! We are looking forward to the Rust Riot this weekend in NY State. That will be a fun rockabilly car show event with the Memphis Morticians playing! I can't WAIT!

Happy start to the weekend and if you need that little boost to get you feeling better~ go out and have a shopping therapy session! I am telling you it works! Nothing makes me happier than shopping except for Skeetie & getting inked!

Love out~ tinkie xoxo

Shopping Therapy!

HA! I always call shopping "therapy" because, after all, it is! Right? I love to shop. Love to sort through things and browse for that special buy! Skeetie says there is something wrong with me.

So anyway, since Skeetie's Dad, Papa M, is getting released from the hospital today, Skeet stayed in and played in his garage messing with the car while I went over to the thrift shop to see what treasures I could find. He wanted to stay around in case his parents needed anything. I found some great vintage fabrics, a bag of old bottle openers and a wicked 50's dress. I spent under 10 bucks. I was happy :-)

Then I did a little clothes shopping. Lord knows, I don't NEED any clothes, much less SHOES but I came home with 3 pairs. I think Skeetie's right. There IS something wrong with me!! I got some Ed Hardy sneakers and 2 fab little black flats. Then since it is hot & humid today I stopped for some ice cold Mad Anthony brew and whilst perusing around the nice cool liquor store I saw these GREAT bottles of TIKI Tequila!! I don't drink any of those hard liquors but the bottles on these were so beautiful! I had never seen them before! I was secretly wishing I had my camera with me....One little tiny kid looked up at me and said "You have 100 tattoos!" Most folks just stare at me like a sideshow freak. I am growing accustomed to it.

Well, I have cleaned the bathroom, straightened the living room and should do the dishes but I just can't face it right now. Maybe later. I am just kicking back for a bit here. I'll probably stitch up some new Atomic Fez's from the fun new fabrics I've acquired.

I have found a glorious vintage Mamiyaflex on Ebay that I wanna try and grab. The Mamiyaflex and the Rolleiflex are the types of cameras Diane Arbus used to use. I want to add examples of both to my vintage camera collection. I have 3 awesome Twin Lens Reflex cameras now and I find their make up to be so beautiful.

I had a dream the other night that I went job hunting in a hearse that looked like a weird dune buggy type hearse and in my dream, I knew exactly where it was I was driving. I knew the area and the Parkway (it was Montvale!?) and when I got there for the interview, the space was a wicked old warehouse with uneven barn wood floor and planking. Very sparse. The crazed boss hired me without my even filling out an application or asking me any questions. It was very odd. I wonder what it means? There was a hallway, a narrow dark staircase (descending) and my friend Debbie at the bottom talking up to me.

Here are my finds from today!

And I don't think I have shown you my vintage sanitary napkin vending machine yet! It's a fave item poised just outside the bathroom. It's my constant reminder of the Crimson Curse and the YEARS AND YEARS we gals suffer it along with the PMS and total hormonal imbalance that goes along with it all...

I hope you are all having a magical weekend.

hugs & love~ tink xoxo

Summer Weekend Magic!

Oh what a perfect Summer weekend! It was HOT but not unbearably humid and Friday I had a half a day and went over to see my bud Ox at Jinx Proof Tattoo in Montclair! He worked another splendid piece on me and I just love it!

Yesterday Skeetie & I went to the Whiskey Cafe car show and walked around for a couple of hours taking in all the fabulous cars and chatting with the owners. Then headed over to Cheeseburger in Paradise for dinner. It was another perfect night and we just had a magical time.
Today whilst Skeet worked in the basement, I was off on a shopping venture stopping first at a great little car show up at Demarest Farms picking up some of their Pecan Raisin bread then on to Christmas Tree Shops up on Rt 59 where I bought a bunch of fun stuff including a new leather journal, pirate pencils (lol, for designing future tattoos), a fun new flag for the house and a vintage tin sign for Skeet's garage. From there we headed to the Yankee Candle shop where all the awesome new autumn scents were out. I grabbed a jar of Fall Festival, some Autumn Woods tea lights and Purr-chouli votives (very sweet, with a black cat on the label).

After that we headed to Piermont on the Hudson River and shopped the little boutiques over there. I was able to grab a pair of Cydwoq handmade sandals for 140 bucks! That is like 1/2 of what they go for. I was thrilled. They were 40% off and I just love the fit & feel of Cydwoqs. There is nothing like them! From there we hit Boondocks, the Environmental Boutique where I got some Pine Tar soap and Indian incense including my fave Nag Champa along with Geet Govind. I also picked up a great "Wheel O' Wisdom" from another little odd boutique there.

After Piermont we went to Nyack to the River Club for a fabulous lunch on the river. Skeet stopped his endless work on the garage/basement for long enough to go over to a car show in Whippany and I was happy for him to have a break after working non stop all this past week.

Now I am having a Magic Hat Hocus Pocus brew and getting ready to look at the Sturgis Live-cam to see if I can spot some of our friends that are out there for the bike event.

Such a magical weekend. I hate for it to end!! Hope yours was as magical~ Peace~Tink
